Love’s Farm House is managed by Love’s Farm Community Centre CIO, a charity set up by members of LFCA and other local residents. We have our annual general meeting (AGM) on 20 October 2017 and would like to welcome new trustees to our board.
The trustees are volunteers who take overall responsibility for the community centre. At our monthly trustee meetings (on the first Wednesday of each month) we discuss things such as finances, marketing and fundraising, setting hire rates, defining policies and procedures, employing and managing staff, planning events and ensuring that we always act in accordance with our constitution and mission statement. We also do lots of practical jobs: gardening, running the bar and café, building maintenance and helping out wherever it’s needed. There’s lots to do but it’s really rewarding.
Some of our trustees are also regular hirers of the building, and it’s useful to have a range of ages, backgrounds and interests to help us serve all parts of the community. Click here for more information from The Charity Commission about what’s involved.
If you’re interested in becoming a trustee (or would like to volunteer in any other way), we’d love to hear from you. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 01480 262626. Please get in touch by 1st October.
Friday 22 September, 8pm, Love’s Farm House
Join us on a voyage of scientific discovery into the world of gin. We’ll be lining up ten bottles for you to try, from well-known premium tipples to boutique curiosities. Which blend of botanicals floats your boat? We’ll be using the power of science to help you sharpen your taste buds as you gain infinite wisdom and power over the humble juniper berry.
Tickets cost £20 per person and include a taste of ten gins, plus two double gins and tonic so you can continue your empirical studies just a little more. More drinks will be available at the bar.
Tickets will be available from Monday 21 August from Love’s Farm House. Pop in or call us on 01480 26262, Mon-Fri 9am to 3pm. Invite your friends via our Facebook Event.
Join us at Love’s Farm House on Saturday 22 July, 3-7pm for the return of our summer fair and garden party. Entry is FREE and there’s lots going on to keep you entertained.
We’ll have summery crafts and flower painting, sponge toss, water balloon throwing, face painting, a treasure hunt and giant garden games. We’ll be firing up the barbecue and the bar will be open, serving a wide selection of alcoholic and soft drinks including posh G&Ts, jugs of Pimm’s and four types of lemonade. That’s just how we roll on Love’s Farm.
Tell your friends, bring your family and made a day of it!
Roll up, roll up… Love’s Farm House and Marvel Entertainments present an afternoon of magic, balloon modelling, Punch & Judy and bubble disco!
The show lasts two hours and is suitable for children aged 3-7. Tickets are £5 per child, available in advance from Love’s Farm House. Pop in or call Jenny on 01480 262626 (Mon-Fri 9am-3pm). The entry price includes refreshments for the children.
Children MUST be accompanied by an adult (the coffee shop will be open too). Adults, babies (under 1 years) and older siblings (over 12) don’t need a ticket.
Love’s Farm House plays host to baby and toddler groups, youth clubs, exercise classes and much more besides, but at 7:30pm every Friday night it turns into the Farm House Bar. We have a great selection of beers, wines, spirits and soft drinks at reasonable prices. Children (accompanied by a carer) are welcome until 9pm. There are lots of extra activities to keep you entertained, too…
Karaoke at the Farm House Bar
The first Friday of each month is Karaoke Night. We have 1,280 songs from A-ha to Zayn, a superb sound system and disco lights, plus lyrics projected onto our cinema screen so everyone can join in for the choruses. With impromptu breakdance battles and outbreaks of interpretive dance, Karaoke at the Farm House Bar is an experience like no other.
The second Friday of the month is Games Night. Come with friends or make some new ones. We have table tennis, Scrabble, Trivial Pursuit, Risk, chess, backgammon, draughts and Taboo, or bring your own game – we’re always up for something new.
St Neots Film Club
On the third Friday of the month, the Farm House Bar is open as normal, while the hall is host to St Neots Film Club. Recent films include Inception, Groundhog Day and an evening of silent films accompanied by live music. 8pm start, £2.50 entry fee, and stick around afterwards for our post-film discussion.
LFCA Quiz Night
The last Friday of the month is Quiz Night. We take it in turns to write and host the quiz, so whether you’re an expert on the reproductive cycle of the natterjack toad or who’s dating who in Hollyoaks, you’ve probably got as much chance as anyone else. It’s £1 to play, with teams of up to six people. Don’t have a team? There’s always one you can join, and it’s a great chance to meet your neighbours.
Farm House Gallery
We have a rolling programme of art exhibitions on the walls of our bar area. Our current exhibition is by photographer Nigel Northwood. Visit us throughout March to see his series of photos of abandoned buildings. Please get in touch if you’d like to stage your own exhibition.
These informal get-togethers give Love’s Farm Community Association (LFCA) committee members, Street Reps, councillors and residents a chance to chat, share a drink and discuss how we can make Love’s Farm an even better place to live. Check out the What’s On page or follow LFCA and Love’s Farm House on Facebook for the next date and for all upcoming events.
Love’s Farm House is currently recruiting for three part-time roles: bar and premises supervisor, bar staff and caretaker.
