The Hall Gets a Refresh thanks to Tesco & GENCO Construction Services

We’d like to say a huge thank you to Tesco and GENCO Construction Services for repainting the Love’s Farm House hall!

When Tesco planned their refurbishment of the Tesco Express store on Love’s Farm, they reached out to us to find out whether Love’s Farm House could benefit from any redecorating at the same time. We were more than happy to say yes!

The paint in the hall was looking very scuffed and faded. Most of the hall hadn’t been repainted since the building opened in 2015 because the walls were too high to access, even with a ladder.

Tesco and GENCO Construction kindly provided a team of workers, as well as a scissor lift, to repaint the hall from top to bottom. They went above and beyond the call of duty by fitting the work into the gaps in our schedule so that none of our activities were disrupted.

The work was finished just in time for everyone to enjoy at the Valentine’s Disco!

Jenny Bishop, General Manager of Love’s Farm House, said “we are incredibly grateful to Tesco and GENCO for supporting us with this project and helping to maintain this great space for everyone in our community to use.”

Have a look at our What’s On Guide or Events page to find out when you can come along and make the most of our refreshed hall.

Loving Earth Project Gallery Exhibition

Love’s Farm House has teamed up with other venues across St Neots to display over 100 handmade fabric panels from the Loving Earth Project.

Originating in Glasgow for the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26), the exhibition is now travelling around the country, celebrating some of the wonderful things on our planet which are being threatened by growing environmental breakdown: the people, places, creatures and other things we love.

The project aims to help people engage creatively with the issues, without being overwhelmed. Whatever our starting point, our actions affect the wider environment. The Loving Earth exhibition encourages us to think about how we each might help to reduce the threats to the world we love.

Everyone can join in, using the exhibition as a catalyst to think about how we can make changes in our everyday habits and help to preserve the wonderful natural world we live in. You can make your own textile panel, use the online resources to explore the issues further, or draw / write your response to the central questions, either on paper or on the green heart postcards in the Foyer. You can upload your responses to social media via Loving Earth’s Facebook, Instagram or Twitter pages.

Once you’ve been inspired by the panels at Love’s Farm House, why not visit the exhibitions across St Neots? You can find more panels at St Neots Museum, Art & Soul Cafe, the Refill Shop, St Neots Library, Berkeley Street Methodist Church and our neighbours, Round House and Wintringham Primary Academies, from 20th October to 20th November 2022.

Halloween Disco 2022

We know you missed it during the pandemic, so start digging out those costumes because it’s BACK! Tickets for the Love’s Farm House Halloween Disco 2022 are now on sale!

The Halloween Disco is Love’s Farm’s biggest night out of the year, when we put on crazy costumes and dance like maniacs whilst partaking of creepy cocktails, mysterious mocktails and spooky snacks from the bar.

Don’t look behind you, there may be ghosts joining the fun!

As usual we’ll be easing into the evening with games for younger children from 6pm, before showing off our freakiest moves on the dance floor from 7pm. There will be lots of prizes on offer, so get perfecting that costume and practicing those dance moves.

Ghoulish games at the Halloween Disco

Tickets cost £2.50 per person (babies under 1 are free) and all children must be accompanied by a parent or carer.

Could You be a Trustee of Love’s Farm House?

The Love’s Farm House AGM is coming up and we’re on the lookout for new Trustees!

Love’s Farm House is managed by a charity, Love’s Farm Community Centre CIO, which was created for the sole purpose of running the building on behalf of the local community. The Trustees of the charity are all volunteers and have overall responsibility for the building, including employing staff, managing finances, reviewing policies and organising events such as the Halloween Disco and Gin Nights.

Our Trustees help to organise our events. The Gin Labs involve careful research and experimentation!

Our Trustees are formally elected at the Annual General Meeting, which will be held on Friday 11th November 2022. This year we have several vacancies available. We are particularly keen to hear from people with a buildings / facilities background to help fill a skills gap on the current Board, but no particular skills or experience are needed as everyone will have their own strengths to bring to the table. All we ask is that you are committed to making Love’s Farm House a great asset to our community and that you can commit to attending the majority of the Trustee Meetings, which take place on the first Wednesday evening of each month.

If this sounds like a role for you, we would love to hear from you! Please email Raymon on chair@lovesfarmhouse.co.uk or call 01480 262626.
